Provided is an optical device (1) having: a first electrode (10) and a second electrode (20) constituting a pair and having optical transparency; a refractive index adjustment layer (30) situated between the first electrode (10) and the second electrode (20), the refractive index adjustment layer (30) allowing the refractive index in the visible light region to be adjusted; and an asperity layer (40) in which one surface of the refractive index adjustment layer (30) has cyclic or semi-cyclic asperities formed thereon. The refractive index adjustment layer (30) mainly comprises a liquid crystal material that contains liquid crystal molecules (31), the liquid crystal molecules (31) on one surface of the refractive index adjustment layer (30) being perpendicularly oriented. |
