PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce color noise while suppressing the occurrence of color blurring in the vicinity of an edge.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: first determination means which determines whether or not a first area including a pixel of interest is an area in a uniform color for the pixel of interest in input image data; second determination means which determines whether or not a second area, different from the first area, including the pixel of interest is an area in a uniform color; setting means which sets a reference area consisting of the pixel of interest and adjacent pixels of the pixel of interest for the pixel of interest; and first correction means which corrects the pixel value of the pixel of interest to a value for which noise has been reduced on the basis of the pixel value of the pixel included in the reference area. The setting means sets an area consisting of a plurality of prescribed pixels as the reference area when the first determination means determines that the first area is the area in a uniform color, and sets an area according to the determination result by the second determining means as the reference area when the first determination means determines that the first area is not an area in a uniform color.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 |
