PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device which can specify and recognize ledger sheets by extracting an image part of each ledger sheet from images obtained by scanning, at a time, a plurality of the ledger sheets which are placed on a manuscript table at random and whose sizes and types are different. SOLUTION: The image processor extracts straight lines on a scanned image and then extracts, from among the straight lines extracted, straight lines which are parallel or perpendicular to arbitrary straight lines. Then, the processor further extracts a given rectangular region from the straight line images extracted comprising the straight lines extracted. Next, the image processor compares a plurality of ledger patterns registered in advance with a given rectangular region to judge whether the coincidence resulting from the comparison is found or not (S305, S306). Then, when the coincidence with the ledger pattern has been found, a given rectangular region is extracted from the image to be stored and further the rectangular region is excluded from the image (S307).
