The table unit for especially air passengers has a table section (10) pivotably fitted on the seat (14) to be hinged down into an in-use position and hinged up to be fixed by a fixing device (20) on parts (16) of the seat back (18). The fixing device has a spring arrangement which by a predetermined pressure force holds the table section on the seat back in a retained position. When the pressure force of the spring is overcome the table section is released from its fixed position and brought into its functioning position.
