A method and apparatus for controlling concurrent operation of a MySQL database. The method comprises: receiving a database operation request for the MySQL database (101); determining whether an index value that represents a load pressure of the MySQL database is less than a first preset threshold (102); if yes, continuing to process the database operation request and handing over the request to a storage engine for execution (103); if not, ending processing of the database operation request (104). The method is capable of precisely controlling the load pressure of the MySQL database, and maintaining a response time for the database operation request to be within an acceptable range, thereby improving overall availability of the MySQL database. |
