This zoom lens is provided with a front-side lens group G2, rear-side lens groups G3-G5, and an aperture diaphragm S. The front-side lens group comprises one lens group having negative refractive power, or two lens groups having negative refractive power, and has negative refractive power as a whole. The rear-side lens groups are disposed to the image side of the front-side lens group, and have positive refractive power as a whole at the telephoto end. The rear-side lens groups are configured from a plurality of lens groups, and include an object-side positive lens group which has positive refractive power, and which is provided closest to the object side. The interval between the front-side lens group and the object-side positive lens group changes so as to be narrower at the telephoto end than at the wide-angle end. The aperture diaphragm is disposed further towards the image side than the front-side lens group, and satisfies conditional expression (1), namely 1.2≤|MGB_t|≤6, conditional expression (2), namely 10≤νdGn_min_p≤27, and conditional expression (3), namely -0.03≤TpGn_min_p≤0.014. |
