PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience for a user, regarding an information reproducing apparatus and an information reproducing method. SOLUTION: A reproducing means 1d stores content information 1g related to content data being reproduced and connection apparatus information 1f on an information providing apparatus serving as a providing source of the content data, in a storage means 1a. An information providing apparatus detection means 1b, when disconnected from a network 3 and then reconnected thereto, detects an information providing apparatus to be connected to the network at the present time. A reproduction control means 1c retrieves a matching information providing apparatus based on the connection apparatus information 1f in the storage means 1a, from the detected information providing apparatuses 2a, 2b to 2n, then establishes a connection with the retrieved information providing apparatus, and makes a request for reproduction of content data set in the content information 1g.
