The present invention addresses the problem of providing an exhaust gas purification catalyst capable of showing sufficient purification performance even under a high Ga condition. The present invention relates to an exhaust gas purification catalyst having a base material and a catalyst coating layer formed on the base material, the catalyst coating layer containing catalyst particles having different compositions in an exhaust gas-upstream region occupying a range from the end of the catalyst on the exhaust gas-upstream side to 40-60 % of the entire length of the base material, and in downstream-side region, which is the remaining region of the catalyst coating layer, wherein the exhaust gas-upstream side region includes many voids and a certain portion or more of all the voids are composed of pores having a high aspect ratio of 5 or greater, thereby improving the purification performance of the catalyst. |
