PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stapler with which a staple is cut, formed and made to penetrate paper sheets to be bound with a single operation. SOLUTION: The stapler 1 comprises: a handle 5 to be pushed down for binding operation by a user; a frame 8 having a paper sheet insertion opening 7 located below the handle 5 and into which paper sheets are inserted; and a base 9 for supporting the handle 5 and the frame 8. The frame 8 comprises a forming plate 15 near the front end of a conveyance path 13 along which a connected staples 2 are conveyed, where the forming plate 15 forms a staple 3 into a shape where it is cut off and its both ends are bent in one direction. The frame 8 also comprises a driver 18 for causing the staple 3 to penetrate the paper sheets by operation of the handle 5. When the handle 5 is pushed down, the forming plate 15 is pushed down against the staple 3, and simultaneously the driver 18 is pushed down against the paper sheets. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
