PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cost by reducing the number of output parts which output synchronization signals, in an optical display, with the color tone of a video projected synchronized with the rotation of a color wheel, is adjusted on a discharge lamp side. SOLUTION: Timing at which luminous flux passes through respective color segments 31 to 37 are detected by a color wheel synchronization detection means 50, and a color wheel synchronization signal output means 60 outputs color wheel synchronization signals from respective output parts that are synchronized with the detected timings. A control means 65 makes the color wheel synchronization signal output means 60 output the color wheel synchronization signals, in a predetermined signal state on the basis of the corresponding relation between the combination of the signal state of the color wheel synchronization signals, output from the respective output parts and the increase in the power supplied from a power supply means 80 for each time-divided luminous flux of each color.
