<p>A graft copolymer (P1) is obtained by grafting an ester (a) of 8-22C alcohol and acrylic acid onto a copolymer (b) having in addition to ethylene, vinyl acetate (3.5-21 mol%) and at least one vinyl ester derivative (0.5-16 mol%). A graft copolymer (P1) is obtained by grafting an ester (a) of 8-22C alcohol and acrylic acid onto a copolymer (b) having in addition to ethylene, vinyl acetate (3.5-21 mol%) and of at least one vinyl ester derivative (0.5-16 mol%) of formula CH2=CH-OCOR1 (I). R12-30C alkyl. Provided that the copolymer (b) contains 3-30C alkenes (less than 0.5 mol%). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a composition (C1) comprising the graft copolymer (P1) and a further copolymer, which apart from ethylene contains vinyl ester of 2-4C carboxylic acid (3.5-20 mol%) and 6-12C carboxylic acid (0.1-12 mol%), where the total content of vinyl ester is 6-21 mol%; (2) a composition (C2) comprising the graft copolymer (P1) and a further copolymer, which in addition to ethylene and vinyl esters (8-18 mol%) also contains an olefin (0.5-15 mol%) selected from propene, butene, isobutylene, hexene, 4-methyl pentene, octene, diisobutylene and/or norbornene; (3) a fuel oil composition comprising a fuel oil of mineral origin (F1), or a fuel oil of animal and/or vegetable origin (F2) or a fuel oil (F3) prepared by the Fischer-Tropsch process or any mixture of (F1), (F2), and (F3), and an additive comprising the composition (C1); and (4) improving the cold flow properties and paraffin dispersancy of a fuel oil involving: adding the graft copolymer to the fuel oil.</p> |
