<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader having high dustproof performance. <P>SOLUTION: The card reader 10 is provided with an insertion port 15 for inserting/ejecting a card 20, an opening 16, a carrying roller 17 for carrying the card 20, a magnetic head 7 and an IC contact 9 for reading out information from the card 20, and blocking means 23 for blocking the intrusion of dust from the insertion port 15 or the opening 16 into an inside 14. The blocking means 23, which are a pair of upper and lower blocking means, are arranged in carriers 21, 22 of the card 20 between the insertion port 15 or the opening 16 and the inside 14 so as to be partially superposed when observed from the carrying direction of the card 20 and to be shifted from each other in the carrying direction while being brought into contact with each other.
