The injector has an actuator arranged in a housing and acting on a nozzle needle piston (20) by a coupler piston (31) over a control chamber (40). A control sleeve is axially and adjustably guided to the piston and the housing. The needle is detached from a nozzle needle seat (19), and the fuel is injected based on the pressure of the chamber. A sliding sleeve (34) is axially and adjustably guided to the coupler piston. The sleeve (34) presses with a sealing edge (36) against a front surface, such that the chamber (40) is hydraulically separated from a high pressure chamber (13).
