PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic welding apparatus which is suitably usable in a case in which the magnitude of ultrasonic energy required for welding in a first section and a second section having mutually different positions in the CD direction differs from each other, and an ultrasonic welding method.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic welding apparatus for performing ultrasonic welding processing on a sheet-like member 1a transferred while being wound around the outer peripheral surface of a rotary member 30 rotating around a central axis, includes an ultrasonic processing unit rotating around the central axis together with the rotary member. The outer peripheral surface 30s of the rotary member includes a first section and a second section different in the CD direction. The ultrasonic welding apparatus includes an ultrasonic energy adjustment section which makes ultrasonic energy input per unit length in the CD direction at the time when the ultrasonic processing member passes through the first section in either a forward path or a backward path and ultrasonic energy input per unit length in the CD direction at the time when the ultrasonic processing member passes through the second section in either the forward path or the backward path different from each other.
