PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver characteristic detection apparatus for evaluating driver characteristic with high reliability by comparing a driver model of a driver 4 which is identified based on sensors 2, 3, 5 mounted on a vehicle 1 with the other driver model. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: a driver model identifying means 6 for identifying the driver model indicating an input and output relationship by using a target steering value, a steering operation amount, an actual operation measurement which are acquired based on a target value sensor 2, an actuation sensor 3, and an operation sensor 5 which are mounted on the vehicle 1 as an input and output of the driver 4; and driver characteristic evaluating means 7 for evaluating the driver characteristic of the driver 4 by comparing this driver model with the other driver model.
