PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original document reader capable of acquiring the optimum deciding parameter (image processing parameter) in deciding whether an original document is blank or not. SOLUTION: The original document reader is provided with an image processing section 255 as a deciding means for deciding per one sheet whether or not an original document has an image by image processing. It is also provided with a CPU 251 as a switching means for automatically switching the reading operation of an original document in accordance with a result of decision by the deciding means. It is also provided with an operating section 309 as a notifying means for notifying a user of a result of decision by the deciding means and as a correcting means enabling the user to correct the result of the decision to be notified by the notifying means. It is also provided with a CPU 301 as a correcting means for correcting an image processing parameter used for decision in the deciding means on the basis of a result of correction by the correcting means when a correction is inputted from the correcting means. It is also provided with a RAM 303 as a registering means for registering the corrected image processing parameter of the deciding means differently from the image processing parameter before correction.
