A method of forming a monofilament or a technical fiber for use in a press felt of a papermaking machine including the steps of selecting polyamide 66, selecting polyamide 6/66, blending and forming a monofilaments. An amount of polyamide 66 is selected by weight of approximately 60-95% of a total weight. An amount of polyamide 6/66 copolymer is selected by weight in an amount of approximately 5% to 40% of the total weight. The polyamide 66 and polyamide 6/66 copolymer are blended, thereby defining a blended material. The monofilament or technical fiber is formed from the blended material.
