<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel catheter and a catheter operating mechanism which allow an operator to select quickly and accurately an object, such as an affected region, an examination position, a blood vessel or the like, within the body of a patient or a subject when carrying out a procedure using the catheter and also allow to recycle the catheter operating mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The catheter comprises a catheter shaft and the catheter operating mechanism.
