<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar lighting system capable of changing a characteristic of a light source in response to a plurality of applications different from one another, and a use environment, and capable of supplying illumination light with an excellent luminance distribution even when any characteristic is achieved. <P>SOLUTION: The planar lighting system 10 has a light guide plate 15, and light source units 13 arranged along a light entering surface 15c of the light guide plate 15. In the planar lighting system, the light source unit 13 is configured by adjacently arranging first and second white LEDs 11 and 12 different in white light emission principles; the light guide plate 15 is provided, in the vicinity of the light entering surface 15c of the backside 15b, with light diffusion patterns 17 distributed by using the light source units 13 as base points; and the first and second white LEDs 11 and 12 are structured to be able to be turned on/off independently of each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
