PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder capable of reducing energy loss of urging force of an urging means. SOLUTION: The feeder (144) is provided with a placement part (101) placed with a medium (P) to be recorded; a feed roller 230 for feeding the placed medium (P) to be recorded; the urging means (280, 290) for urging one of the placement part (101) and the feed roller 230 in order to approach a distance between the placement part (101) and the feed roller 230; and urging force adjustment means (270, 292) for adjusting magnitude of the urging force (290) of the urging means (280, 290).
