The invention relates to an exhaust-gas purification device for motor vehicles comprising a monolith (2) arranged in a casing (1), a gap (3) between the monolith (2) and the casing section enclosing said monolith, and a mounting mat (4) disposed in the gap for retaining the monolith, which is essentially made of mineral fibres. At least a first partial region (7) of the mounting mat (4) is formed by a swelling mat and at least a second partial region (8) is formed by a non-swelling mat. At least a second partial region (8) is disposed in a central area of the casing when viewed from the axial direction. Said second partial region (8) is contained in a receiving chamber (18) of the gap (13), wherein the receiving chamber is delimited by the first partial area (7) and extends from the peripheral surface of the monolith (2) to the inner side of the casing (1). ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
