<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video encoder which can accurately set a prediction mode for encoding in macroblock units with a small calculation quantity and adaptive to H.264/AVC, and a mobile radio terminal device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A prediction mode determination section of the video encoder has a primary evaluated value calculation section 41 which uses a moving picture signal and a reference image signal to calculate primary evaluated values for a plurality of 4×4 intra-prediction modes respectively for every plurality of 4×4 pixel blocks, a secondary evaluated value calculation section 43 which applying weighted addition using evaluation coefficients corresponding to respective positions of 4×4 pixel blocks to the primary evaluated values to calculate secondary evaluated values for the 4×4 intra-prediction modes respectively for each microblock, and means 44 to 48 of determining a prediction mode for encoding for each macroblock by using the secondary evaluated values. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
