CARD CONNECTOR

Provided is a card connector, wherein a contact terminal for a new contact section is prevented from being damaged, even when a card having no new contact section in a region which corresponds to a partitioning wall is inserted, while dealing with mounting of a card provided with such contact section.  The card connector is provided with a housing (2), whereupon a first card and a second card can be selectively mounted.  The first card has a plurality of contact sections and a partitioning wall between the contact sections.  The second card has, at the time when the second card mounting is completed, a contact section also in a region where the partitioning wall of the first card is arranged at the time when mounting of the first card is completed.  The card connector is also provided with a contact terminal (204) which corresponds to the contact section of the first card, a contact terminal (205) which corresponds to the contact section of the second card, and a press down member (206) which presses down the contact terminal (205).  The press down member (206) is provided with an abutting section which abuts to the partitioning wall of the first card, and the contact terminal (205) is pressed down when the abutting section of the press down member (206) and the partitioning wall of the first card abut to each other at the time when the first card is mounted.
