PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological material that includes crosslinked fatty acid as a substrate.SOLUTION: Described are: a pre-hardened induced biological material including a fatty acid as a substrate; a method for preparing said biological material; and a method for using the same as a drug delivery carrier. Said fatty acid-derived biological material may be utilized alone or in combination with medical devices, for release and topical delivery of one or more therapeutic agents. Also provided are: a method for forming said biological material and adjusting the characteristics thereof; and a method for using said biological material for the treatment of injury in a mammal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 20
