PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct the density of an image formed by an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a γ correction part 62 that corrects image data on the basis of a γLUT; an image forming station 10 that forms images on the basis of the corrected image data; a density detection sensor 5 that measures a pattern image; a γLUT creation part 301 that creates a γLUT_B on the basis of a result of conversion of an output value from the sensor performed by a density conversion circuit 55; an operation part 80 that receives an input of information on the density of a test image determined by a user through visual observation; and a conversion table update part 302 that creates a conversion table 55b on the basis of density information and a result of conversion of an output value of the test image from the sensor.
