1. A transdermal composition for topical administration to a subject to decrease and/or inhibit hyperpigmentation, comprising:
an effective hyperpigmentation-treating amount of an active agent comprising at least one of an isoeugenol ester and a salt thereof; and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier or vehicle effective in carrying or enabling passage of the active agent into the epidermis or dermis of the skin of the subject where the active agent decreases and/or inhibits hyperpigmentation in the skin of the subject.
