A strip (1) is rolled in two rolling stands (2, 3) in a respective roll gap. The strip (1) is deflected out of a direct connection plane (5) defined by the two roll gaps by way of a loop lifter (4) arranged between the two rolling stands (2, 3). A camera (6) arranged above the rolling stands (2, 3) captures an image (B) of the strip (1) for the purposes of establishing a geometric dimension (g') of the strip (1) related to a width direction of the strip. The image (B) is accepted by an evaluation device (7). An image dimension (g) of the strip (1) related to a coordinate system of the image (B) and corresponding to the geometric dimension (g') is established in the accepted image (B). The geometric dimension (g') is established by imaging the image dimension (g) onto the strip (1), taking into account the optical imaging parameters of the camera (6). To this end, a preliminary geometric dimension (g'') of the strip (1) is initially established by imaging the image dimension (g) into a reference plane, taking into account the optical imaging parameters of the camera (6). The reference plane is related to a predetermined reference deflection of the strip (1) from the direct connection plane (5). The geometric dimension (g') is established from the preliminary geometric dimension (g'') by taking account of a correction factor (k), which is a function of the deviation of the deflection of the strip (1) from the direct connection plane (5) from the reference deflection. |
