PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crucible made of molybdenum easily produced in a high yield and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: This crucible-shaped article melting high melting point metallic oxide or the like is composed of molybdenum having purity of >=99.6%, is substantially formed only by sintering and is excellent in practical durability. The method for producing the crucible made of molybdenum includes a stage in which molybdenum powder having purity of >=99.6% and a metallic core 1 are charged to the inside of a vessel 10 made of rubber in such a manner that the metallic core 1 is arranged at the center of the powder 4 and are subjected to CIP treatment to obtain a compact and a stage in which the metallic core is removed from the compact, and sintering is performed. The metallic core 1 is composed into a divided type form so that the compact after the CIP treatment can easily be separated, and also, the danger of generation of deformation in shape and crack can be evaded at the subsequent sintering.
