SMART CARD DEVICE AND METHOD USED FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING SECURE E-MAILS

The system has a universal serial bus (USB) smart card reader coupled to a host (110) having a client electronic mail program. A smart card has an integrated circuit with a microprocessor. The microprocessor transfers electronic mails to and/or from the client electronic mail program and an electronic mail server via the card while decrypting and encrypting any transmitted and/or received mails within the card. An independent claim is also included for a method for transmitting and receiving electronic mails.
