COUNTERING WIRE COMMANDED IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE IED

The present art of countering the lEDs is by using jammers to block the signals from reaching the charge. In this case, very expensive equipment is required and can only be used for protection of VIP (prize targets) motorcades or meetings in large halls. A bubble of electro-magnetic waves is created around the target (mobile or static) to stop the trigger signal from reaching the charge. The most lethal IED today and to which there is no comprehensive counter measure is the Wire Commanded IED. It is usually used in open areas targeting military convoys.
