<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents fall and accumulation of toner at both edges of a first toner electrostatic carrying substrate 101 without involving a cost increase due to electrodes disposed opposite the first toner electrostatic carrying substrate 101. <P>SOLUTION: The edge electrodes 101k on the first toner electrostatic carrying substrate 101 which extends in a toner carrying direction H are disposed near both edges of the first toner electrostatic carrying substrate 101 in directions perpendicular to the toner carrying direction H. A both-edge voltage power source circuit 193 is also disposed for applying voltages to the edge electrodes 101k. In such a structure, toner deviating from the toner carrying direction H and moving toward the edges from the middle of the substrate is subjected to the action of an electric field which exerts electrostatic force for pushing back the toner from the edges towards the middle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
