FOAM METHOD OF SLAG IN DIRECT CURRENT ELECTRIC FURNACE

PURPOSE: A foaming method of slag in a furnace by pouring a mixture of carbon and dolomite in slag is provided which reduces the cost of electricity. CONSTITUTION: In the preparing method of low carbon molten steel using a direct current electric furnace, a mixture of 50-90 weight% of carbon and 50-10 weight% of fine particles of dolomite is poured in slag in a ratio of 380-760 kg/130 ton from the beginning of above 80% melting of scrap to the prior to the tapping of molten steel. For an example, 3 ton unslaked lime and 0.5 ton dolomite are poured in the direct current electric furnace and then 1.9 ton fine dolomite(30%CaO, 32%MgO) is poured in it in a speed of 80 kg/min.
