A method and a system for downloading contents are provided to offer advantages in content usage or expense to a user by downloading again only the invalidated MO(Media Object) with MO location information included in an RO(Right Object) without downloading the RO linked with the MO. A content issuer(30) provides the MO. A right issuer(20) provides the RO including at least one of the location information of the MO and the content issuer. A user device(10) receives the RO from the right issuer and receives the MO from the content issuer at least once. In case that the user requests playback of the MO, the user device checks validity of the MO. In the case that the MO is invalid, the user device automatically requests provision of the MO to the content issuer by using the location information.
