The flywheel has two coaxial flywheel masses (10, 18) and a torsional damper (22) that is attached between the masses. The damper exhibits springs with screw shaped windings, which are arranged in a ring-shaped recess of one of the masses. The windings support one of the masses at its ends on a bearing (30) and on a ring shaped flange (36) that is firmly connected with another mass. The springs comprise coaxial long springs and short springs, where the short springs are screwed into a middle section (38) of the long springs.
