<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a technology that enables to reduce "magnification variations", "color shifts", or "pitch unevenness" being a degradation factor of an image in an image forming device while achieving suppression of speed variations of a rotating body and stable long-time drive. <P>SOLUTION: A speed controller has the rotating body, a drive part for driving the rotating body at a predetermined rotation ratio, a detection part for detecting a speed of the rotating body, and a control part that calculates a frequency of a drive signal outputted to the drive part on the basis of speed data to be detected so as to control the drive part while correcting a calculated drive signal. The control part executes processing for extracting a first speed-variation component, having a single or a plurality of frequency components, and a second speed-variation component having a single or a plurality of frequency components from the speed data during a single rotation of the rotation body to.
