Provided are a light emitting diode having a dual structure and a driving unit thereof. The light emitting diode having a dual structure includes: a base having a certain area; a first device disposed on the base and emitting light depending on application of current; and a second device disposed on the base and adjacent to the first device, and emitting light depending on application of current. The driving unit of a light emitting diode having a dual structure includes: a base having a certain area; a first device disposed on the base and emitting light depending on application of current; a second device disposed on a center of the base, and emitting light depending on application of current; and a current controller for applying current to the first and second devices.
