<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform accompaniment in accordance with chord progression suitable for user's preference. <P>SOLUTION: In the automatic accompaniment device, a specific music category (1-1) is selected from music categories (1-1 to 1-M) by user's operation, and a specific chord progression (2-1) of a plurality of chord progressions (2-1 to 2-N) according to the specific music category is selected. Therefore, it is made possible to perform accompaniment in accordance with the specific chord progression (2-1) suitable for user's preference. When the automatic accompaniment device performs accompaniment in accordance with the specific chord progression (2-1), one of a plurality of chord which the specific chord progression (2-1) indicates is changed to a user instruction chord by user's operation.
