PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions which improve the release and enhance solubilization, digestion, bioavailability and/or absorption of omega-3 fatty acids in vivo, while maintaining the ability to cross cell membranes.SOLUTION: The invention relates to preconcentrates in a gelatin capsule or a tablet form comprising: a fatty acid oil mixture comprising at least 75% eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), by weight of the fatty acid oil mixture, wherein the EPA and DHA are in a form chosen from ethyl ester and triglyceride; at least one free fatty acid; and at least one kind of surfactant. The gelatin capsule or tablet form comprises at least one coating, and the preconcentrates, the gelatin capsule, and at least one coating do not contain further medical active ingredients other than a fatty acid oil mixture.
