PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dryer capable of quickly drying a body to be dried, and a printer capable of achieving high-speed printing with favorable printing quality. SOLUTION: In this dryer, a microwave head 50 radiating microwaves to paper includes a pair of pole plates 51A, 52A disposed in parallel, the radii r of the paired pole plates 51A, 52A are set to X<SB>1</SB>×v/ω, and paper is made to pass between the paired pole plates 51A, 52A to dry the paper (wherein 2.3<X<SB>1</SB><2.5, the angular frequency of the microwave :ω=2πf, the frequency of the microwave: f, and the speed of the microwave: v.).
