1. A data processing system, the system comprising:
a data processing circuit operable to receive a data set including a plurality of user data codewords and a cross codewords error correction codeword including encoding generated from the plurality of user data codewords; and wherein the data processing circuit includes:
a cross codeword error correction circuit operable to calculate a soft data adjustment value based at least in part upon decoding using the cross codewords error correction codeword;a data decoding circuit operable to apply a data decoding algorithm to at least one of the user data codewords guided by a decoder input generated in part from the soft data adjustment value.
