In order to solve the technical problem of combining different colors in time sequence to mix light of two colors together so as to improve display brightness and meanwhile reduce speckles, a method for modulating data by a spatial light modulator is provided. The method comprises the following steps: converting each frame of data to be modulated into n bit segments, each bit segment being assigned with a bit weight; dividing at least one bit segment into at least a first sub-bit segment and a second sub-bit segment, and loading, into the spatial light modulator, frames of the data to be modulated that have been converted into bit segments; at least one type of primary color light to be modulated, the primary color light comprising laser and fluorescence, wherein the first sub-bit segment in the at least one bit segment of the modulation unit modulates the laser, and the second sub-bit segment in the at least one bit segment of the modulation unit modulates the fluorescence. By combining two types of colored light in time sequence, display brightness is improved and meanwhile speckles are reduced. |
