摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cranking starting method for an internal combustion engine coping with demands in various modes for engine cranking starting, occurring to an economy running system vehicle and a hybrid vehicle, and not impairing the riding comfort of a vehicle even when it is effected in the middle of vehicle running. SOLUTION: When an internal combustion engine is cranked for starting by an electric motor, at least one of the rise speed and the maximum value of output torque of an electric motor is controlled such that large and small sizes are varied, and control is effected such that late and early timing at which electric motor output torque is lowered are varied. When at least one of the rise speed and the maximum value of electric motor output torque is increased, a point of time at which the electric motor output torque is started to decrease may be before starting of self explosion of the internal combustion engine.
