The invention provides an ultrasound image pickup apparatus and an ultrasound image pickup method which can evaluate the stability of Doppler information acquired by Doppler ultrasonography and can observe a moving state of biological tissues (heart or a blood vessel) of an object based on the stabilized Doppler information. The ultrasound image pickup apparatus of the invention includes: a probe which transmits and receives an ultrasound signal to and from an object; a Doppler information generation unit which generates Doppler information from the ultrasound signal; a degree of approximation calculation unit which calculates a degree of approximation of the plurality of Doppler information items; and an approximate Doppler information acquisition unit which acquires the Doppler information having a predetermined degree of approximation as approximate Doppler information. |
