<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and an image processing method, allowing high-accuracy detection of a detection target not having a light emission part from an imaged image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A control part of the image processor compares a candidate of a detection target area, extracted from image data obtained from an imaging device performing imaging in a far infrared wavelength band and a high-luminance area, extracted from image data obtained from an imaging device performing imaging in the visible-light wavelength band. The candidates of the detection target area as a whole overlapping with the high-luminance area are excluded from candidates. Not only is a high-luminance area portion excluded, but the detection target which does not have the light emission part difficult to be visually recognized in the night, i.e., a person, a bicycle without a light, or the like, is detected with high accuracy based on far-infrared image data.
