PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane elastic fiber which has excellent elongation, recovery, heat resistance and chemical resistance and is suitable for stretch fabrics, clothes and the like, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This polyurethane elastic fiber comprising a polyurethane comprising a polyol and a diisocyanate as main constituents is characterized by containing a compound having an epoxy group in the molecule. The method for producing the polyurethane elastic fiber is characterized by adding the compound having the epoxy group in the molecule to a solution of the polyurethane and then spinning the mixture.
