<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate a volume flow rate appropriately. <P>SOLUTION: The upstream pressure (collector pressure) of an engine is detected by a collector model. On the basis of the collector pressure, atmospheric pressure and engine speed Ne, pump volumetric efficiencyηto be used for calculating the volume flow rate is calculated (a pump volumetric efficiency calculation means 44). On the basis of the pump volumetric efficiencyηand the engine speed Ne, the volume flow rate dV is calculated (dV=η×Veng×Ne/120, a volume flow rate calculation means 45).
