<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber made of a tellurite glass with high nonlinearity capable of avoiding influences of material dispersion, having a large effect on optical signal processing utilizing the nonlinearity, and attaining wideband zero dispersion in a communication wavelength band. <P>SOLUTION: The optical fiber 100 made of a tellurite glass having a zero-material dispersion wavelength equal to or greater than 2μm has a core region 101, a first cladding section 102 enclosing the core region 101 and having a plurality of air holes 102a in a circumference direction of the core region 101 and along an axial direction of the core region 101, and a second cladding section 103 enclosing the first cladding section 102 and having a refractive index equal to an equivalent refractive index of the first cladding section 102. By controlling a difference in the relative refractive index between the core region 101 and the first cladding section 102 to 2% or more, the zero dispersion wavelength can be controlled to a 1.55μm band which is the communication wavelength band. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
