PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device of excellent sealing performance capable of maintaining adhesiveness between layers for long period of time and restraining occurrence of dark spots. SOLUTION: The organic EL device 1 is provided with a substrate 10, a plurality of organic EL elements 12 formed on the substrate 10, insulating barrier ribs 14 zoning the plurality of organic EL elements 12 formed on the substrate 10, an inorganic insulating film 13 arranged between the substrate 10 and the barrier ribs 14. Each of the organic EL elements 12 is provided with a pixel electrode 16 formed on the substrate 10, a luminescent functional layer 18 formed on the pixel electrode 16 and the barrier ribs 14, and a counter electrode 20 formed on the luminescent functional layer 18. An end edge part 13a of the inorganic insulating film 13 is intercalated between a peripheral edge of the pixel electrode 16 and the luminescent functional layer 18 of the organic EL element 12, not covered by the barrier rib 14.
