<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical element integrated head of high utilization efficiency of light which reduces a propagation loss occurring in a path from a light source to a recording medium by reducing the number of components and performing mounting by a compact active alignment method in order to guide light generated by a laser element to a head tip efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: In the light source element integrated head, a light source element mounted to a submount has a mirror having an inclined surface in at least a part of its one end face to reflect outputted light from the light source element on an inclined surface, a structure member includes a lens structure to transmit light by passing through the submount, and an optical waveguide is provided through a slider mounted with the submount. Positions of the light source and the slider are adjusted by the use of the active alignment of light in a chip on carrier structure where the light source element is mounted to the submount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
