A coil tubing hanger includes a tubing hanger body shaped to fit between a tubing head and tubing-head adapter. The tubing hanger body is supported by an inside surface of the tubing head. Opposing slip assemblies are situated inside the tubing hanger body to carry weight of the coil tubing and resist up-hole forces, which may result from pressure or thermal expansion of the coil tubing. A gland nut compresses the slip assemblies to grip the coil tubing. A coil-tubing seal is located down-hole of the slip assemblies and may be urged into sealing contact with the coil tubing by weight of the coil tubing, tightening of the gland nut, and hydraulic pressure. Various embodiments with all or some of these features are disclosed. |
